The business is a dream come true for owner Steve Thesenvitz. He has been in the restaurant/cafe business all his life. Steve smiles when he remembers the process to buy Tastee Treat.
“I was 27-years-old and it was for sale,” Steve recalled. “I went into First National Bank to get a loan.” Many food places barely make it five years. Steve was just 27 and asking for a loan. The bank granted Steve’s request and believed in him. “We have the best burgers around,” he said proudly. “And, the best biscuits and gravy.”
Tastee Treat’s owner sees more than great food. “It’s burgers and breakfast, but also relationships,” Steve said. “Knowing your customers is good for them and good for us.”
Steve told the story about an elderly regular. One day that man did not make it in. The staff got a hold of the sons. They later learned the elderly man had been trapped under some equipment and rescued.
Rain or shine, snow or ice, Tastee Treat is a Broken Arrow staple on south Main Street. This march, Steve Thesenvitz will celebrate 24 years of business at the 1537 S. Main location. The local Tasty Treat has had three owners over the last 60 years. It’s not just the food, the service staff is friendly and fast, and the patrons feel welcome to sit down and enjoy a great meal with friends.
For over 60 years, Tastee Treat has been, and continues to be a Broken Arrow staple.
